NWHS Hosts Jackson County College Connection Fair

NWCS

More Than 40 Institutions Were Present at Northwest High School for the Largest College Fair in Jackson County

Northwest High School hosted a College Connection Fair on Thursday (Sept. 24, 2026) for students and parents/guardians to learn about post-graduate opportunities.

More than 40 total colleges, universities, trade schools and military branches attended the event, including several institutions from outside the state of Michigan. Students at the event were able to connect with numerous program representatives to gather information and ask questions about education and career opportunities after high school.

Prior to the event, the College and Career Access Center of Jackson hosted an informational session for high school seniors to learn more about the college application process, admissions and financial aid.

“It’s an extremely great opportunity for everyone in Jackson, especially because this is the only one,” said Northwest High School senior Jackleen Haddad, who plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall to become an orthodontist.  “I’m happy that it’s at my school because I know we have great teachers here that can help provide a good space for everyone to come and see all the representatives.”

The event was also beneficial to underclassmen, like NWHS sophomore Pharen Vanwoert, who learned about scholarship opportunities and said she started thinking about her future plans.

Thanks to everyone who attended the 2026 Jackson County College Connection Fair at Northwest High School and helped make it a success!
