NWHS End of The Year Academic Updates
NWCS
Finalizing the 24-25 School Year!
- Grades and report cards will be mailed home once grades are finalized on Tuesday, June 10th. Congratulations on your hard work and a great year!
- Final transcripts for seniors will be sent to their colleges or universities at the end of next week, as well. We are so excited to witness our Mounties continue their greatness in their next step!
Summer School!
- Ensuring students are on track with credits is one of the best ways to ensure high school graduation and future success! Summer School begins Monday, June 9. Students enrolled in summer school for either acceleration or credit recovery received their information on Thursday. Please contact Marney Smith at marney.smith@nwschools.org if you have any questions.
25-26 School Year!
- New student registration will be on August 11 and 12 from 8:00 - 2:00 p.m. for all new students to the district – please continue to encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to join our amazing community. New or interested families are welcome to contact Kim Britton at kimberly.britton@nwschools.org to schedule an appointment.
- 9th Grade Orientation is Thursday, August 14. Look for more details this summer!
- Our Back to School Open House is Monday, August 18 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. We invite all families to come meet their new teachers, receive their schedules, find their lockers, and share some Mountie pride!
- All student schedules will be available in PowerSchool starting Thursday, August 14.
- Updates to our academic programming include:
- AP Chemistry will be offered again! Beginning in the 26-27 school year, AP Chemistry and AP Physics will rotate. This brings our total AP offerings to nine – we are always excited to offer opportunities to challenge and support all students!
- The Aviation program will be expanding to its 3rd year to include the pilot readiness course! Future students completing all four years of this program will have the potential to earn their pilot’s license by the time they graduate high school.
- New Computer Science and Business classes include Adobe Creative Cloud, Future of Gaming: Esports, Wealth Builders: Advanced Finance, and Boss Up: Launch Your Business.
- We will once again be offering Advanced 3D Printing! This course will further strengthen our STEM program and support of the local business and manufacturers here in Mountie Nation!
- Beginning in 25-26, Accelerated Literature and Composition and Accelerated American Literature will be offered in a rotation. In 25-26, advanced 9th and 10th grade students will take Accelerated American Literature. In 26-27, advanced 9th and 10th grade students will take Accelerated Literature and Composition. This change reduces the number of scheduling conflicts for students to allow more students to access accelerated programming.
- Beginning in 25-26, AP Language and AP Literature will be offered in a rotation to mirror our other AP courses. AP Literature will be offered in 25-26 and AP Language will be offered in 26-27. Again, this change reduces the number of scheduling conflicts for students so that more students can access accelerated course work. Note: the four year curriculum for accelerated ELA students remains the same. Students will take the same four classes, just potentially in a different order. All NWHS departments now offer multi-age accelerated courses.
- Senior Forum is expanding to include offerings in both semesters, focusing on the college and scholarship application process. Students in this course have historically received a large number of scholarships – this year, our graduating class earned more than $2,000,000 in college scholarships!
- If you have any questions about your child’s course selections or academic plan, please reach out to your grade level counselor in August when they return to work!
- As we transition to semesters, more information will be shared over the summer and to launch the year as it becomes available!
