Visual Arts
Northwest Community Schools is home to one of the area’s only Young 5s -12 Visual Arts programs. The fine arts curriculum is a complete, diverse and student centered one that allows for all students to succeed throughout the creative process. Our dedicated, highly qualified staff educates students on various cultures and themes, as well as, multiple mediums and techniques. Students are encouraged to develop their own artistic style throughout creative exploration of assignments.
Elementary Level
Students receive weekly visual arts classes that involve hands-on exploration of materials, techniques and various cultures and artists from around the world.
Middle School Level:
Enrolled students receive daily art classes in a trimester format. There is an emphasis on traditional techniques and elements of art. Artist studies and cultures around the world are highlighted as well.
High School Level:
Enrolled students receive daily art classes in a trimester format. There is opportunity to pursue personal artistic interests and original creativity while meeting the National Visual Art Standards. Using the Principles and Elements of Design, technical demonstration and instruction and art history, students gain a wide range of knowledge and skills to better inform their creative decisions.
