Dear Northwest Community,
Every Minute Counts!
We hope everyone's school year is off to a great start! As we continue to strive to offer the very best in education, Northwest Early Elementary will be operating under the theme, “Every Minute Counts!” This overarching theme will incorporate efficiency from the staff in the planning for lessons, the transitions of students from learning spaces, and most importantly, student attendance. As a staff, we will be working diligently to utilize every minute of the school day, as well as, offer online resources for enrichment beyond the school walls. We are asking for all community members to encourage your students or the students in your neighborhood to attend our community school every minute of every day that they are healthy.
Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of school days due to absence for any reason. National studies have shown that 1 in 10 children in kindergarten and 1st grade are chronically absent. When a student is not in school regularly, they miss out on the fundamental building blocks of reading and math skills. Every minute counts, with your continued support we will overcome any barriers in education and offer the very best in education.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mark Short, Principal
Paula Louagie, Dean Of Students
